This is a three-document set to a Oberstleutnant Friedrich Richtmann, a veteran of the First World War who earned both Clasps to the Iron Cross, as well as the German Cross in Gold during the Second World War. He served with 1. Infanterie-Division during the attack on the West in 1940, before transferring to 121. Infanterie-Division for the invasion of the Soviet Union in the summer of 1941. His awards are detailed as follows:
Award document to the Clasp to the Iron Cross Second Class. It is dated May 26, 1940 and signed by Generlamajor Philipp Kleffel as commander of 1. Infanterie-Division.
Award document to the Clasp to the Iron Cross First Class. It is dated July 5, 1941 and signed by Generalmajor Martin Wandel as commander of 121. Infanterie-Division. Wandel later went Missing in Action at Stalingrad (and was declared dead after the war).
Formal award document for the German Cross in Gold to Richtmann as commander of Artillerie-Regiment 121, 121. Infanterie-Division. It is dated January 9, 1942 and signed by Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel of OKH.
